Jan 8th, the city of Bradley IL, part of the Kankakee IL metro area, willl vote on the proposed 'no smoking' ordinanace.  One possible positive is that bars are not included.

One huge minus (other than the nanny state fascism), is that the bitch who proposed the oridnance kept uttering stuff like "What about the children!"

The meeting is held at the Bradley Villiage HAll,Jan 8th, 6:30 PM CST.  I'm going to try to get a contingent of people to go.

You can find the Reader's Digest condensed version on the web.

I don't like libraries, as I tend to like to mark up my books.

At this point I dunno if I shoould get a new copy of RtS, or a copy of Free to Choose

In a nutshell, the LP needs to be Principled, yet practical if it wants to win elections.  That's all I'm saying.

My contention is that while I firmly believe in libertarian principles, some things we stand for are just not palatable t the general public.  Sad but true.  You think anti-drug war issues will get the right to vote LP, or that 2nd amendment issues will attract the left?  Hardly.  The LP needs to be realistic in the sense that they need to shift the focus into the here and now, and not the far libertarian future.  Iraq for instance...  For the most part, the LP position would win a lot of votes if it was focused on.

As far as Bob Barr goes, I don't really know enough about him to comment one way or the other.

The only thing I hate about the road to serfdom is that I lost my copy about 2 years ago, and haven't gotten a replacement.

I like the simple 'Free Party' myself.

But a name change won't mask the fact that the LP tends to be more utopian and less realistic.

Perhaps to get votes, let's change it to the 'Free Beer!' party.
