Why is Twitter?

When Pete and Jason were arrested, it was Jason's tweets and a iPhone picture that let us know they were arrested.

By the end of the evening, over $3K was raised, a friend was flown from DC to MS, had a hotel room.

Twitter is used for connecting to your friends. If you don't see value in that, perhaps you just have shitty friends.

there was a ray bradbury story published in the 40s which was about a man railing against "friendly" technology and everyone bugging him on his wrist radio, so he decided to just wreck shit

if you substituted "cell phone" for "wrist radio" the story would be nicely updated to the 21st century

I opened a twitter account just to see how it works on a Blackberry so I could show my VP of Advertising. I followed Kevin Nealon for a couple of weeks. It made me laugh a few times.

I have since removed the application. I can't imagine it being truly useful.

I made a Twitter account a week ago for this reason, and it's been kind of fun to play around with.  I like the randomness of it-- oh look, Simon Pegg just rescued his dog from drowning, and somebody's friend makes really cool hats, and Penn Jillette added a tricky new part to the show, and so on.  None of the people I follow really seem to post about what they had for dinner (unless it was absolutely amazing) or when they're taking a shit.  I do have some people following me that I have absolutely no idea who they are, though.....
