Nah, a bunch of people make a high resolution painting, and leave an empty spot in the middle, they hand off the image to the next artist, who makes another painting that fits into the empty space in the middle seamlessly, in the same rez, leaving another space in the middle, and repeat a bunch of times, and the last person sends their image back to the first person creating a loop.
That one used 88 separate high rez paintings. Then the flash file scales through each image (In or out) and blends them seamlessly as they scale. Because you're actually reducing, rather than enlarging, you lose no detail, and it looks like one image that is infinitely detailed.
It's a type of art form that can only exist digitally, which is freaking awesome.
