Would like more coverage of national issues from FTL perspective
« on: February 13, 2010, 11:35:17 AM »

Hi all,
I love the show, but it seems to dwell perhaps a little excessively on some local New Hampshire or niche issues. I would like to see more topical commentary focused on what is hot in the mainstream media - ripping apart the talking points coming from both the "right" and the "left".

What do you think?

Seems they used to do more of that in the past. Lately though it seems more about local stuff. Sure they do national stories alot, but they dont point out the hypocracy of the right and left as directly as they used to do. Maybe they just assume that all of  their listeners are already aware of that hypocracy.

Not saying they dont do this at all, just to a lesser degree than they did a few yrs ago it seems.

Ian and company go through these cycles of local trivia. It's not too bad, but I would like them to still bring back some nation and global tidbits.

I AM interested in hearing about some of the local struggles against tyranny, but I think most listeners are outside the NH area, and it's been a bit too dominant a theme as of late.

Phone lines are open.

The last couple of shows I've listened to, it seems the hosts ask a bunch of questions up front, before the caller can say his piece. The callers seem to be bombarded with questions that lead the discussion to a point where the hosts have them on their turf, then whittle away at the discussion until the caller is made out to be a fruitcake for not agreeing with the hosts opinions.

I'm thinking that's why a lot of people don't bother calling.

Generally whenever any complaint or suggestion is made on these forums, Ians response is "don't listen if you dont like it", if he makes one that is.

If I ever get a free night I may call in for the first time. I plan on talking about dinosaurs.
Dwarf dinos, ginger dinos, feathered dinos, flying dinos with fuzz and dinos with teeth that stick out horizontal from their jaw.

Lets see them try and twist that conversation away from me.

I've noticed that too.  I've only called once and I went on the offensive and asked the questions instead of letting them ask me questions, but I can understand how a longer term listener may decide not to call in because he fears he'll be bombarded on a minor point instead of talking about the issue he is calling about.

Glad someone else noticed.. was wondering if it was just me.

It's a flaky tactic. Do they think people can't tell?
