Vaccines linked to Autism?
« on: January 05, 2011, 11:07:32 PM »

The subject of this topic is a very common claim made by participants of the show. I just uncovered an article that claims the original study linking vaccines to autism was falsified and the author, Dr. Wakefield, has been stripped of his UK medical license. 10 of the 13 researchers involved renounced the study and the original publication it was published in has since pulled it.

Penn and Teller's Bullshit did a show on this where they made the same claims as the original poster. (that vaccines have no link to autism)

Yes.  There are conspiracy theory retards who will not be swayed by any fact or reason.  They take the whole vaccine = autism thing as a matter of faith.  They'll go on page after page denying reality and just being stupid.

Dont forget that several of the kids in Wakefields study didnt actually have autism after all. The people promoting this conspiracy theory are very fanatical and religious in their views. Its worrysome.

For a balanced perspective, you should read this article on the subject by a board certified neurosurgeon:

It seems it is only politically correct to connect over-vaccination to health problems in pets.  http://www.dogsadversereactions.com/scienceVaccineDamage.html
Until there is an independent double blind study of vaccinated vs un-vaccinated children there will continue to be doubts.

I suppose it is time to start the character assassinations of other scientist.  Since their studies also indicate a possible link to autism and other neurological problems in some people due to vaccine reactions.

Nice article but it won't sway anyone.

The complete lack of a double blind study in humans is meaningless to them.  It seems nothing is going to dissuade their vaccine zealotry.  I have said several times the question would be put to bed if scientist on both sides worked on a double blind study and over saw each others work.  Excuses will be made that it is expensive or unethical anything to avoid an actual scientific study.  And like I posted earlier the double blind study on dogs concerning vaccine safety indicated strongly there is a connection.
