Title: Total site redesign
Post by: DarkReign on May 04, 2009, 10:39:37 AM
I think that the freetalklive.com website is long overdue for a total redesign. It's beginning to look really old, like it was made using yahoo geocities or something.

Would you guys consider using some of the amp money to get the site completely revamped?

I agree. We should definitely let Gene Ray redesign the front page.

Didn't Johnson recently talk about this?

Yes.. and at that time I recommended they move toward a more "social networking" type site, of the likes of last.fm.

Forum based sites are on the way out.

I'm not too big on the logo either.

Who's volunteering their time to do a mock-up?

I guess if we are all giving our 2cents in this matter I will too.
I dont like the logo in the upper right corner (with the phone, letter, etc.). It looks like old, cheap, clip-art. The one on the left is fine.
Also, they should add some CSS effects. Cuz they're fun.

I do think the website needs a redesign.  The forum is unique in that there's hardly any rules at all.  Not many social networking sites will put up with that.  Ning is about the only social network that I can think of that allows you to create your own social network but whether they'd allow the content that gets posted on here is a whole other issue.  They could switch to SocialEngine http://www.socialengine.net/ but that's $250 for the software to host on your own servers.  That might be the way to go.
