The Super Mario Multiverse

This might have been what was touched on briefly w/ the video game character analogy, I'm not sure, but here's the Super Mario Multiverse.  It's a way of explaining "multiverses" in reality's many realms of possibilities, which there seems to be more and more evidence for.  Yes, I was reminded by the "bird splitting," but thought that what should have been considered is that altering you consciousness might make other aspects of reality visible, since photons and electrons when not observed exist in more than one place, while the observed only exist in one.

Interesting. Reminds me of Heinlein's "world as myth" concept, which suggests that any world conceived by the human mind exists by definition, and could be visited physically given the right technology. His book The Number of the Beast was about a time-space-universe travel machine that did just that. The inventor and his daughter and their respective spouses visited Oz and some other places (including some created by Heinlein hismef) and had a lot of sex. It was incredibly weird.

But does it explain why an Italian plumber is trying to "save" a princess from a large reptile by jumping on turtles, spitting flames, and riding dinosaurs?

I enjoyed it and would recommend it, but I wouldn't call it "great". Certainly not my favorite Heinlein.

Yeah, I agree.  Time Enough For Love weird enough?  I thought that was a "great" book.  Much better.

Totally agree. It's in my top 3 favorite by Heinlein, and in my top 10 favorite fiction books by any author. (Another two of which are also by Heinlein: The Moon is a Harsh Mistress and Citizen of the Galaxy.)
