Age of consent is bullshit.

If you can say you consent and can explain what consent means, you are capable of consent.

Any idea that there should be an arbitrary age limit because some kids might get "exploited" is bullshit.

Some old people get manipulated into giving away lots of their money, likely some kids will aswell, but that doesn't mean there should be any legal restrictions on "kids" because they haven't hit the right age yet.

Any reliable arbiter is going to be able to tell most genuine consent from someone who has been coached and coerced, and for the cases where it isn't, tough shit, thats freedom.

If we go down this road, then it leads to all sorts of bullshit ideas, like drug addicted prostitutes aren't capable of "consenting" to sex work because they don't have "any other choice", or poor Malaysian kids can't consent to making textiles because they're "forced" to do it because they "need" food.

How does an 18+ year old, end up being friends with a 16 year old.  Does anyone get the vibe that Alex is gay for Jeff?  I am dead serious, how else do Jeff and Alex know each other without Jeffs parents knowing Alex.  Did Alex otherwise befriend a freshman when he was a senior in Highschool?  I think more than friendship is going on.

I would contend that Jeff's mom was abusing him.  Not allowing him control his property would be abuse in IMO.  By the fact that he was mature enough to even consider this type of option would indicate to me he is perfectly capable of taking control of his property without parental supervision.

I would  think that getting involved would not be a smart thing to do.....but..I see nothing wrong with doing so to help a friend.
