Eastern wild turkey (Meleagris gallopavo silvestris)

This was the turkey species first encountered in the wild by the Puritans. Range covers the entire eastern half of the United States; extending also into Southeastern Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, and the Maritime Provinces in Canada. They number from 5.1 to 5.3 million birds. They were first named forest turkey in 1817, and can grow up to 4 feet (1.2 m) tall. The upper tail coverts are tipped with chestnut brown. The Eastern wild turkey is heavily hunted in the Eastern USA and is the most hunted wild turkey subspecies.

My parents had domesticated turkeys for awhile (various breeds, none of them found around here since they were either white, black spanish, bourbon red etc., not the kind that sit in cages their whole lives fit free-range ones).

One time a domesticated bourbon red hen ran off in the spring and joined a flock of wild turkeys (the kind discussed in this thread) for an entire summer. She eventually came back for the winter, with babies in tow.

Wait, she stole turkey chicks?  Or the turkeys were able to fertilize her eggs?

If the latter, I didn't know turkeys could fertilize chicken eggs... or is hen also a term for a female turkey?  Sorry, I don't know a whole ton about livestock.

It was a domestic rare breed turkey that went to a wild flock and hooked up with a wild turkey.
Toms are male, hens are female.

There are chickens that look like turkeys, but are actually just a weird chicken breed:

Ugly freaks.

Is Ted's wife real or just a vision he has from time to time?
