Stop paying taxes?
« on: April 16, 2011, 01:02:00 PM »

I'm a new listener to the show, Friday nights on XM as I''m driving home from work. Anyway, last night they were talking about not paying Federal income taxes and nullification by the States.

First off, how could one go about not paying taxes? The States ratified the 16th amendment authorizing congress to levy taxes so how could one argue its constitutionality?

Also, since the States did ratify the 16th amendment how could the States nullify Federal taxes? Wouldn't they have to repeal the amendment?

Not necessary my brother.

Just cut your fingers off.

Cant hold a glass of soda with no fingers.

Just make sure you have your permission slip, notarized and signed in triplicate to allow you to chop said fingers off.

Really, there is no point in refusing to pay taxes, unless you can get a whole bunch of others to do the same.

Sure there is.  You have a bunch more money to spend, save, or buy silver with.

Good points.

...There are plenty of arguments that the 16th was never actually ratified and the amendment never really meant a tax on income..

But I don't expect those to become mainstream views any day.

There are other ways for states to get around Federal taxation. It's within the states legal "right" to coin their own gold and silver.

Do I expect it to happen? Yes . When the federal government collapses most states will create their own money and block federal taxation of the new money.

You can move the thread to another zone if you started it, delete the posts, then move it back over.

Oh, and you can just stop paying taxes, but be sneaky about it and dont tell anybody if you dont want to get caught.

This

The IRS pays rewards to people who rat others out for non-payment. Someone you might trust can come upon hard times and decide they "gotta do what they gotta do" to get some cash.

Sounds paranoid, but its a real possibility.

Avoiding taxes is just too much like work, for my taste. I just assume that if I make $20/hour, I'm really only making $15.

Really, it's less than that, since there are so many other, hidden, taxes involved. But, even tax evaders pay these, since they largely can't be avoided.
