Title: I'm a couple weeks behind, but...
Post by: carolynjane4 on September 29, 2010, 07:03:12 PM
I've been listening to every show on iTunes since early July.  Because I work and have other things to do (and the shows are long), I have managed to fall behind by about two weeks.  I could skip ahead to today's, but I'd prefer not to miss anything.  So my comments here may have already been addressed on the show, but just in case, here they are:

1) On either the 9/14 or 9/15 show, Mark plugs jurisdictionary.com, and mentions that this guy is a "doctor of juris prudence" and is therefore more educated on the topic than an average lawyer.  In order to be a lawyer in the US, you need a JD, or juris doctorate, degree.  (Then you take the bar, and if you pass you are admitted into that state's Bar Association, which makes you a lawyer who can legally practice in that state.)  Therefore, every lawyer in the US is a "doctor".  Of what?  Juris prudence, I'm guessing.

2) On the 9/16 show, a caller asks Ian if he had heard of the commune in Denmark, called Christiania.  Both Ian and Sean say they haven't heard of it, and then the call was lost.  If anyone's interested, here's the wiki article - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freetown_Christiania  I have been to Copenhagen twice, once to visit a native, and he mentioned it, basically just as a group of people who didn't want to deal with the government, and said they had some sort of arrangement, where they cops generally leave them alone.
