I don't know.  I thought it took a year in NH, MA and VT.  Likely most states or something?

I'm still not sure why this case is getting so much attention but I'm not really paying much attention myself.

The state took a new born baby from the lady who just squeezed her out.
The state is wrong.
If the lady was holding the baby over a sacrificial alter and making a chant, o.k. then someone could initiate force and intervene. Til then, it is no ones fucking business.
Not some bitter bomb in the brain grandpa, not a ex husbands, not child services, NO ONE! I was watching the reports for a while then it occurred to me, like the Mama Ally incident, I don't care about the state's or their enabler's excuses.
I can't believe people are trying to make personal judgement (did you ever use any socialized help?) on the victims to help them decide how far to stick out their tongue to kiss the states ass.

Or... gramps is a doushbag. Unfit parents raised a lot of successful people, I don't think the states track record is all that great. If we allow the state to take a newborn without reason they can (and will) stretch this logic til you and I can't raise our own kids eather.

    (A Winnacunnet High School student from Seabrook was arrested last week following a report that he had a weapon and threatened "a Columbine-type crime" at the high school.

Jonathan Irish, 17, an incoming senior at WHS, was taken into custody by North Hampton police Thursday, after it was reported to them the young man was in possession of a weapon.

Irish allegedly told a friend from North Hampton he was going to bring guns to the school, "hide them, and kill anybody he wants to," according to a source close to the investigation about what he termed the "Columbine-type" situation.

I thought the reason they gave the baby back was due to a mistaken identity?  Possibly that was misreported as well.
Also, thought that the mother was being harassed by the husband she has been trying to divorce for the past few years.   He is refusing to sign divorce papers to make it final.  As part of his harassment he told DCS she was an abusive parent.  And this is what lead to her two sons being removed.  The Ex's harassment lead her to get a restraining order and a concealed carry permit for her protection.  And because Irish possibly as a result of his teen stupidity was on the police radar.  Maybe that is why they trumped up the carry without a permit charge when it was actually her gun and her permit.

Even so I have heard cases of addicts taking their babies home and child services doesn't do anything.  There might be something to the allegation that child services is quick to pull a white child from a poor family vs other races.  Cause a white infant is more profitable to adopt out.  It certainly has a historical precedent.   Another Book on Infamous Memphis Adoption Queen Georgia Tann

Well in fairness to the feds I don't think they were even *involved* in the domestic violence or baby snatching moves initially.   Kat Kanning reports that there were some non-undercover marshals present at the rally but they were probably not activated until after Irish had appeared prominently on the "patriot radar screen."
