Title: FTL and Violence
Post by: Cognitive Dissident on March 17, 2010, 04:36:09 PM
These days, the message on FTL is consistently non-violent.  Or is it?  What's with this ad graphic?

That does not count as it's English.

As in, killing English Prime Ministers is non-violent?

They're targeting him...for ostracism.

Libertarians can justify anything by calling it self-defense.

...and it very well may be self-defense.  As people here may recall, I haven't cried any tears for the bureaucrats killed recently.  It's just that Ian and Mark have been so outspoken about it that I thought the appearance of inciting violence was something they want to avoid (and I really can appreciate that from a practical matter for them, more than a philosophical matter.)  This graphic says "head shot" to me.

Now that I've typed "Mark," maybe there will be a response. ;-)

Sounds like you have an issue with the UK Lib, not FTL.

It never crossed my mind. I will talk to the guy about it.

They review all the advertising, and they've pointed out that there are things (such as violence and racism) that they won't condone.

It looks to me like a target and blood splotches. Doesn't sit well with me.

Reminds me of the intro to The Chasers War on Everything. What a great show.

Hey, I'm responsible for the ad.

When I made it I worried a bit that people might think it was in poor taste, but it certainly wasn't to be taken seriously.

More a metaphor "we're targeting the bureaucrats"... and something to grab attention so people would click.

Nothing in the blog is remotely pro violence.

That said I'll knock something else up more appopriate to the FTL message!

Yes. Mercy killings are acts of love.
