FTL 2.0 Beta
« on: July 29, 2009, 11:02:04 PM »

Hello dear listener,

It's long overdue, but we were finally inspired to do a redesign of the FTL website.  Johnson and his team of dedicated coders are working hard to bring you FTL 2.0!

He's asked me to announce a public BETA test phase for the site, so here it is:

http://prep.freetalklive.com

The new FTL site will be focused around a social bookmarking theme (think DIGG.com).  We'll be using your submissions as a source for show prep, and you can use the site as your source for liberty-oriented news and opinion!  Submit your own, comment on, and vote up the items you find most interesting!

Also, the BBS is being re-skinned to go along with the new site's theme.  BBS users can test drive the new skin under the "Look and Layout" section of their user profile: http://bbs.freetalklive.com/index.php?action=profile   Click "change" and select Free Talk Live Theme.

There is still much to be done, but we wanted to give you a peek at what's to come for the next generation of the Free Talk Live website.

Thanks for listening!

Good choice on Drupal.

Much better!

It would be much better without the Civil War Union Army color scheme.

The color scheme, like on the prep site is horrid. Makes my eyes burn.

The colors irk me as well.

You're not blasting people with "Promote the Show" more. I noticed the menu only as an after thought and I think AMP should be a very prominent part of the site. The "Free Talk Live Store" having a slot in the drop down menu AND a section for "Merchandise" is redundantly redundant.

Should have better default colors, and should be able to choose from different color schemes. I prefer greyscale.

Gah! I was there for about ten seconds and it nearly made my eyes bleed.

Here's some help:

Sample Yellow-Black page:
#FFFF00
#D5D500
#AAAA00
#808000
#555500
#2B2B00
#000000

But the new FTL site seems to be trying to be between the yellow in the upper right and the blue in the lower left.

Here's the current color scheme: http://www.gpeters.com/color/color-schemes.php?search_term=free%20talk%20live

Better ones: (freedom = dark greens, blues, browns AKA earthly tones) http://www.gpeters.com/color/color-schemes.php?search_term=freedom

(gadsen flag = yellow fading to gold and black) http://www.gpeters.com/color/color-schemes.php?search_term=Gadsden%20Flag

My eyes, my eyes.  I'm not sure how the beta looks because it hurt my eyes so much I had to close it.

I could swear that I always have to login, to the prep site, twice before it accepts me.

I don't understand the rules to voting. I can vote on 2 or 3 items, but then no more. Am I limited to a number of votes per day? Per session? Only so many "up" votes?

I don't really dig the color scheme either.

I'm not sure why there's a merchandise area.
