I've been listening to FTL for less than a week now, but I'm very excited to hear that there are other voluntaryists out there!

Anyway, I'm interested in hearing what you guys think about the detention of Julian Assange, and issues surrounding Gitmo.  What are the implications of government sanctioned companies having the ability to fund the interests of that government, with relatively secretive conduct?  And even worse, interests that have no legal or ethical foundations.  The only thing being used right now to justify the uncharged Assange is a case of "rape," which is actually some very odd loophole about not wearing a condom (mind you this isn't happening in America, where the card companies are based in).

And just as a side conversation, do you think Gitmo further illuminates the value of voluntaryism?

The hosts may not read this for days or weeks, but they would typically encourage you to call in.  They don't usually discuss issues like that on the BBS.  They'll get involved in issues of how they run the show, and their own activism, from time to time, but the best thing for you to do is call the show.

If you get arrested for it they'll let you co-host the show when you get to New Hampshire

Only if you get arrested for doing something "activisty" and act like a total fucking drama queen.

It is surprising that the same people that can get you so into the Liberty Movement in the first place can so turn you off.  I think the revelation came when Ian was doing his last long stint in jail (for whatever THAT bit of douchebaggery was) and it was just Mark running the show.  Amazing how much better it flowed without Ian interrupting and shitting all over Mark's opinions (since Mark isn't voluntaryist enough).

Stefbot on youtube really had a good and funny take on Julian Assange I thought. Assange is a hero to me on many levels quite frankly. Gitmo just shows how far government will go to live in their illusion of legitimacy with a aside of showing how evil "free" soldiers can be I guess. Can't really see any voluntaryist lessons there.
