Okay, I've downloaded the torrent stuff from Azureus and installed it, but when I click one of the archives all I get is the Microsoft "Open file with which application" dialog.  Am I doing something wrong?

tnx

Download the .torrent, then open it with Azureus, choose a path to save the file to, and wait.

I almost have Azureus up and running.  Is there a way go get around the firewall here?  Azureus says it can't test the Incoming TCP Port 6881.  I've tried several other ports as well.

What brand and model of router are you using? You probably need to set up port forwarding.

That's the problem.  The firewall / routers are owned by "The Man", so I can't mess with them.  I suspect that I'm out of luck.

I'm using BitTorrent from bittorrent.com which has worked successfully before, just yesterday as a matter of fact. But trying to use the October torrent, I got the following error:

"FreeTalkLive-Oct-2005" : Aborting the torrent as it was rejected by the tracker while not connected to any peers. Message from the tracker:     requested download is not authorized for use with this tracker

Any ideas? I ended up DLing the three segments individually that I somehow missed using iTunes (thanks for that link, ceb). Oh, I have used Azureus but like this client better.

For a tracker you should try http://www.mininova.org/, in the 'Other' section, you'll see other radio shows on there.

For a Torrent Client, AZ is great, but people with slower computers might want to try µTorrent. It doesn't use a ton of ram like AZ plus it doesn't require updating java when updating the client.

If your having connection troubles, check out http://www.portforward.com/ and http://forums.degreez.net/.

For the record, I've been seeding Nov and Oct for the past 2 weeks :)

Thanks ceb for introducing me to Azureus and giving me the .torrent bug;
resulting in me playing around with the FTL archive torrents, and then playing around with Azureus,
and then playing around with port forwarding on my router, and then playing around with public trackers...

The upshot of all of which is, I've put together a .torrent of my DVD of Free State Project (and Free Talk Live) video clips.
Sorry for the crosspost, but I thought folks tracking this thread would find it interesting/useful:

TurboTorrent 1.0.7 has a trojan virus, at least if you get it from turbotorrent.com.

I have just finished downloading 3 different months of FTL. I will leave those 3 months open for the next 24-36 hours so hopefully I can upload to some of you.

The trackers the torrents are on now suck pretty hard. Torgo, if you want to set up an official FTL bittorrent tracker, I'll remake the torrents (including new ones for 2005-02 and 2005-03 from this thread that MobileDigit posted). That'll give us 14 months of archives.
