anti-regulation "PSA" on FTL...why?
« on: February 17, 2010, 07:30:18 PM »

Frequently while listening to FTL on the internet, I am tortured by the indescribably annoying spot wherein a man apparently walks into some government office and wants a license for a business to sell his anti-gravity shoes.

Why, why, why O why am I punished for listening to FTL like this?  Is it because I don't have to hear enough bureaucratic BS in real life, that I have to listen to made-up bureaucracy in my spare time?

I don't know if there's a legitimate reason to subject FTL listeners to what I cannot imagine any FTL listener benefits from hearing.  What I do know is that whenever this spot comes on, I change the station.

I actually like that ad. It's so simple even a fool can get the message that bureaucracy hinders progress.

Shit, I'd like to get that ad broadcast on NH airwaves as much as possible. What a great tagline: "We can't just have people floating around unregulated, ya know!"

I think that's a network commercial, anyway. But yeah, it's one of the few really GOOD ones on the network.

I think today's Internet and podcast addicted generation has no idea how to deal with scheduled commercials anymore.

Back in the old days, when the commercials came on, we would go to the bathroom, or to the kitchen to cook something, or whatever. Anywhere away from the commercials!

You mean in the olden days your smart-phones didn't work in kitchens and bathrooms??  Oh what a brutal barbaric world this used to be!

*shudders* Yeah, I remember those days. We used to use paper from a roll to clean ourselves. Of course, that was before the 3 shells.

In case anyone here missed / forgot Demolition Man:

  • one to wipe

  • one to wash

  • one to blow dry

Not that the government would ever allow it though.

That is an FTL fill spot.  I've been using it for years, cause it's brilliant.  (Also because there isn't really much in the way of :30 and :60 produced commercials for liberty groups.)
