could FTL have a members only club (that never gets promoted, but exists only as a product (wherein you buy access to a set of perks)), and ALSO have the amp program.
Seems like a good compromise.
The only downside is, I'm a platinum AMP, and if the members-only club was more than say $2-3/mo, I'd want in for "free" as a perk along with my $25/mo AMP. Otherwise, I'd take the money for the members-only club OUT of my AMP controbution (and would therefore no longer be a Plat AMP)

Sounds like a horrid idea to me.  If it goes any further than the semi-exclusive connotation of being an AMPlifier, I'm stopping my AMP subscription.

I say add all perks to store.freetalklive.com individually and still take monthly donations.  I still have issues with the AMP program as a whole.

I have never understood why people have problems with AMP. Free Talk Live is now on 20 radio stations, and continuing to grow. That's great! More people need to hear FTL. Since they are also the number one recruiter for the FSP, it's an easy way to show support for both. I don't donate money to any other organization, but FTL deserves it.

My main problems come when its sold as charity to a pro freedom organization when in all reality its helping build someones bunisess.

I have no problem buying merch though.  I actually did AMP for only a month or two at the very start of it but it just left a sour taste in my mouth.  I support everything that Ian, Mark, "Radios Scott Wolf", Johnson, Jason, Wayne, and any other person who has worked on or will work on making FTL succeed.  If the show fell on hard times I would do everything within my resources to help it out and when I get to New Hampshire I'll buy Ian a beer and thank him personally.  Of coure I know Ian is a hermit so score, two beers for me.

It's not sold as charity to any organization, it's "helping promote the show" and is a completely selfish endeavor, not that there's anything wrong with that.

Say you contribute to a political campaign. It's not going into your candidate's pocket, it's helping to promote him. And winning the election will certainly enrich him financially, but was that your motive? Of course not. You paid to promote his message because it was valueable to yourself and others.

AMP is a value-for-value business relationship. I see it as patronizing a business. As I get a great value out of it, I want to do what I can to help it be as successful as possible. Any free marketeer understands that it indirectly helps grow his own profits, but what's the big deal? The more we help with promoting the show, the less time they have to spend on it and the more time they can spend on show content, further increasing its value to me.

Plus it's voluntary. If you don't want to, just don't. But no need to bitch about it. AMP up or shut up.

I AMP, I get perks. I AMP, I'm helping out FTL. I'm using it for selfish reasons too.
