Title: Your Favourite Non US/UK Band
Post by: ziggy_encaoua on November 27, 2007, 07:57:48 AM
Here's a test how many bands do you like who don't come from the US or UK?

Well here's 3 I like

Seather (South Africa) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9DsjinVRkhA
Sepultura (Brazil) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6wquAKVsDvc
Midnight Oil (Australia) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=td1ZLqrEpXI&feature=related (who's lead singer is now a minster in the new Aussie govt)

Is KMFDM considered US? I would have considered Sepultura US but since you don't then I don't know what your measures are.

Sepultura
Quote
By the time they released 1991's Arise, Sepultura were located in Phoenix, Arizona and had become one of the most critically-praised metal bands of the time, in spite of a lack of mainstream success.

KMFDM
Quote
After touring with Ministry in 1989–1990, they signed directly to Wax Trax! and quickly became a part of the industrial music scene in Chicago that included Ministry, Front 242 and My Life With the Thrill Kill Kult. Konietzko then moved to Chicago in early 1991, and Esch followed a year later.

I am a huge fan of Sweatshop Union and Swollen Members (Canadian HipHop).

Daft Punk (French) is fantastic.

Manu Chao (Brazil?) kicks ass too.

Flight of the ConChords (New Zealand) are funny as hell.

Of course KMFDM (German?) was mentioned.  They're like gods.

Darude (Finnish) spins good techno.

Of course Silverchair and ACDC (Aussie) are good old school rock bands.

Millencolin (Sweden) is a great punk band.

Gwar claims to be from another planet. Somewhere between Uranus and the Black hole.
Their music is right up a libertarian's alley. They mock every facet of society in a very disturbing, but entertaining way.

Sepultura (Max Calveras years) tops my list.
