International arms dealer, mercenary for hire, assassin, art thief... are these acceptable career paths?

Some of them are.

Let me rephrase - is this a direction I want my baby girl to go with her life?

I doubt it.  Fiona isn't the kind of girl I'd be interested in.

I am addicted to Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Not sure if it would be your thing. Was really surprised it was mine. 7 seasons and completed long ago. It had some unique episodes. Also, done by the same guy as Firefly.

Doll House just started but it might be something to keep in mind a couple of years from now if it lasts that long. Again, the same guy as Firefly.

Nip/Tuck was good for awhile. Sorta jumped the shark after season 3 (I think), so downloading just those seasons and stopping might fit your criteria. Weeds falls into this category. Jumped the shark but the first couple of seasons were good.

It's been said, but I highly suggest Firefly. It's witty and carries REALLY strong libertarian (or at least anti-state) undertones. The movie Serenity adds to it a little. It's anarchy... in the future... that's like the wild west. :)

A second suggestion, which I'm surprised hasn't been mentioned here and is one of my favorite series - Jericho. The United States was attacked by 15-20 nuclear attacks wiping out many major cities and destroying the entire documented line of Presidental succession.

On a local level, how do people cope with tragedy and panic when they're no longer sure a government will come save them? What rises from the ashed of the United States of America? Was it REALLY terrorists?

Firefly all the way!

And Deadwood too.

Currently working my way through The Wire, and I'd recommend that too.

Hulu also has all the Rockford files shows, which I like.

I was thinking today about The League of Gentlemen.. it wouldn't be too far off to say that this show is where Northern Exposure meets Twin Peaks.. an isolated town with some really fucked up goings-on.

Anyone else watched TLOG? If so cough up a review for Brasky to get on the wagon. If not, you've missed out.

Sons of Anarchy

It is pretty good, but far from over (I hope) :)

Firefly and Jericho are both awesome.

Also, I don't know if by series you mean something with an actual plot, or just a TV show, but if the latter, The Whitest Kids U Know, and No Reservations. WKUK is a hilarious sketch comedy show, and No Reservations is a Travel Channel food porn show with Anthony Bourdain.

FLCL is only 6 episodes long, but worth checking out.

Firefly, Deadwood, and Dead Like Me are all great.
