Title: Withholding Tax
Post by: mikehz on December 24, 2006, 11:46:53 AM
As it now stands, the true amount people pay is invisible to them, since it is taken from their check before they even see it. I think that if workers actually had to cough up the full amount every April, they would revolt against having to pay so much. What do you think?

I think there are some people that will always think taxes are just something you have to do, but some people would definitely think twice if they were more involved in the taxation process.

They certainly would revolt, but the slimy motherfuckers in Congress would figure out a way to hide the true cost from them once again. Perhaps a friendly payment plan where instead of a lump sum you could pay in 12 easy installments. Or maybe Boortz would finally get his wish and we'd have a national sales tax.

If history serves me, and it does, the government did fine with raising funds from Tariffs and other tax revenues.  The income tax was just a tool of increased imperialism in the United States that took hold following the offensive war against Spain in 1898.

Self-employed people volunteer to pay once a year all the time.

Yes. I can remember when my dad, who owned a small restaurant, decided it was time for me to meet the IRS. I was about 15, I think. He took me along to visit his tax accountant. I remember being surprised when Dad told the guy how much money he'd made during the year--and reported only about half the amount. I have a feeling this under-reporting is done by most self-employed people.

I know my barber, who operates out of his home, only deals in cash. That way, there are no good records to deal with.

Since they used to have to do it that way and America was at least as socialist then, I' say for decades.

If the question is how long will MOST Americans put up with it, my answer is longer than five years. If the qustion is directed at Free Staters, less than five seconds.

I think the tax is properly named because YES I DO. The phrase "blood from a turnip" comes to mind.

You'd be surprised how many would put you in jail for not paying your income tax. And I heard this first hand.

Cryptic as usual.  :P  Care to elaborate?

I'm not trolling. I just don't see what you don't understand about my post.

I asked a yes or no question. As usual you answered with a question; "I don't see what you don't understand" twice. It's obvious when you make shit up because you can't back it up with fact.

You and I joined the BBS around the same time. I've watched your posts and attempted communication with you with pretty limited success. I remember asking you if you are so againt the FSP cause, why did you get involved with this BBS. You replied "who says I'm not going to New Hampshire?". Never a straight answer.

I remember you got kicked off this BBS for putting up porn pictures in the middle of people's non-porn discussions. You found a way to beat the ban and got back in somehow. The board admin at the time shrugged it off and told you to cool it, which you did. The picture of the diseased vagina was the tipping point for me, personally.

You and I both quit and rejoined around the same time so I am somewhat familiar with what you post as my memory is pretty good. I have gathered that you have no intention of going to NH, don't care for the radio show or the FSP cause. You don't have anything constructive to say in any area that I have ever seen. In short, if you are not a troll you are in your fourth year of training at a three year troll school.

Here's the definition of troll from the NHFREE forum.

Quote
Every troll has a slightly different motivation but most of them want one or more of the folllowing:

1) Attention, hateful or otherwise.

2) To drive away people from the forum by making it a less friendly place

3) To force moderators to delete their posts so they can accuse someone of violating their free speech

TAG Dr. Bonerjoe.
