While most LDS members believe it to be the caffeine (as was claimed by a former president of the church) it doesn't stop many of them from drinking Dr. Pepper.  Caffeinated beverages of all kinds are supposed to be prohibited from church functions but they're not always strict about it.  The phrasing of the word of wisdom is 'hot drinks' which is overwhelmingly accepted as coffee and tea.

Coffee. My grandmother got pissed if I tried getting it. She blamed the caffeine and popped a handful of Excedrine every day and got a concentrated form of caffeine that a pot of Foglifter couldn't have contended with.

My grandmother was also a technophobe and while it wasn't on "moral" grounds, she believed that anything electronic was "useless" and not worth my time so she'd rant anytime I did anything with them.
