Once upon a time, not so long ago, our guys were hailed as heros. The little european towns they liberated from the Nazis were happy to have someone step up to the plate in their defense.
As time went on, the occupation forces turned out to often be as fucked up as the foe they had conquored. Still more time passed, and other wars led to more of the same, but without as much purpose. The reasons for being there were questionable and the men felt betrayed by their government for using them in a global chess match. Idle hands are the devils workshop and all that. Reputations began to go sour and word spreads of our cruelty to the locals. People dont forget that shit. And forgetting it isnt an option with the constant barrage of media being beamed all over the globe... Which is good. People should know.
The problem is our fucking government keeps throwing our men and women into senseless fights and lying about the reasons. Our reputation is fucked, on a military level. There will always be little pockets of support for our efforts in places like Iraq among the locals, they envy our prosperity and want to be Americanized. At least the kids do. Until they see one of our guys flip out and clock some native in the head with the butt of his rifle.
We need to recall our forces from foreign lands where we are based by leverage instead of invitation, and from all the hotspots where we are currently using our forces for no fucking reason but to shape their government into a western puppet.
If another Nazi thing pops up somewhere, I could be convinced it needs killin'. Send the troops if its absolutely necessary, and recall them when its over. Send 'em in hard and hot and loaded for rhino, none of this escallation bullshit. Dominate the dog, kill the dog, bury the dog. Done.
