I believe that, as the representative of the people, the Dark Knight Detective Batman is more in touch with the needs of the many. He's out there, busting his ass every single night, with only his wits, skills, and equipment.

Now, granted, he has access to cash that some of us will never see, but the fact remains that his mission isn't to be monetarily rewarded for his accomplishments. No, his goal is to free his city from crime and corruption, which, however futile the quest may ultimately be, still shows that any man can right wrongs if he puts his mind up to the task.

With that being said, there's also the matter of how the Batman gained his abilities; he traveled the world for over twelve years, honing his mind and body until he reached the peak of mental and physical perfection. How did the Man of Steel earn his? By landing on the right planet under the right sun...

But hey, that's just my opinion... What's yours and why?

Now, I'm not saying that I hate Superman; in fact, one of my favorite "Elseworlds" what-if stories is Superman: Red Son, where the Man of Steel lands 6 hours later on Earth in 1938... Guess where he lands? In Bolshevik Russia!

Exactly! I wasn't trying to state that they are the only heroes ever to exist; I was implying that, out of the two DC characters, which was your favorite.

Ok then. Considering that his family, too, worked its way up towards their status is also a sign of hard work and commitment... Take Thomas Wayne, the father of Bruce Wayne, for example. He had enough money where he would never have to worry about working a day in his life again; however, he felt that he owed his fellow human beings his medical aid wherever and whenever a person's life was in danger, and all free of charge.

My theory is that the true strength of this character lies in his decision to help humanity with his (admitedly) superior powers, rather than rule over the earth as a (somewhat) eternal lord.
