West Bank Story is an Academy-award winning 2005 comedy short, [SNIP] The film is a parody of the classic musical film West Side Story, which in turn is an adaptation of Romeo and Juliet. The film follows the romance between the owners of two rival falafel restaurants, one Israeli and the other Palestinian. [SNIP]

The film premiered at the 2005 Sundance Film Festival, and has screened at numerous additional film festivals across the world, garnering several awards. Countries it has been screened in include USA, Canada, China, Australia, Brazil, Argentina, UK, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Italy, Germany, Austria, Israel, United Arab Emirates, Croatia, India, Belgium, Poland, Denmark, and Russia. It won an Academy Award in the category Best Live Action Short Film in 2007.

The thing I liked about it was that in the end the Humus Hut (Palestine) and Kabob King (Israel) were brought together to give their customers what they demanded, fast food. This is a perfect metaphor for how out of the desire for goods springs cooperation and order :) free trade saves the day again...
