Why did the Nazis use that Gothic font? That shit is hard to read.

Grotesque,I believe was were words used to refer to what are now known as
sans-serif fonts.
As to why the Nazis used that style...I don't really know for sure, but I think it had alot to do with tradition and culture stemming from Germany's golden age in Medieval and Renaissance times.
Today, the
Blackletter style is used primarily as display-text. It has also experienced a resurgence in design, as of late (it's use becamse suppressed after the Nazi era). Today, the style is used to convey an edgy attitude to represent hip-hop, skateboarding, and heavy metal culture.
