I stand, remove my cap, salute, and sing.

I rarely go to sporting events, but I went to a baseball game on the 4th of July and didn't stand for the anthem.  Nobody seemed to care.

I'll stand, with respect to those around me. Just as I would if I were in a foreign country and they played its anthem. But, no hand on heart.

This. No reason to get in a fight with a belligerently drunk nationalist at a baseball game.

I agree with this and do this.  The pledge really bothers me though.  I have given some thought to running for  a local office, but one thing that bothers me about it is the idea that if I were to win, I would have to go along with something I am opposed to or make a scene on my first day.  The Pledge is said at the beginning of each meeting of school board and city council.  Maybe show up late for every meeting.  They can keep the prayer at the beginning, but the pledge, ughh.

I sort of had that trouble at the Republican caucus.  They pledged allegiance to the US flag, and I stood up and sorta mumbled so I wouldn't get kicked out, and could vote for Ron Paul, but there was no way I was going to salute and say that shit.
