The only feasable way to run a free-ship-project is if everyone owns their own ship. Shit needs to get done on ships. Have any of you any sailing experience? There would be taxes to live on the ship. There would have to be. Shit needs to get done on the ship. They don't sail themselves. Therefore it automatically fails any "Ultra-Libertarian" test immediately.
I'm all for people sea steading. Just not me. There's no way you could have a totally free society living on a ship together.
Thats retarded.
Tons of private/gated/whatever communities exist, and your comments about "shit needs to get done on ships" is bunkum.
Most modern super tankers, which have the potential to house thousands of people, have crews of less than 30.
How many people do you think it takes to run a hotel? Or a block of apartments?
There would be taxes to live on the ship. There would have to be. Shit needs to get done on the ship.
Ever heard of rent?
Voluntarily paying for a place to live != taxes.
I would never rent a place to live at sea if I didn't have a contract explicitly outlining my right to be provided with transportation off the ship if I wanted, and my right to have a gun. That pretty much solves my qualms about "ship dictatorship" bullshit.
And yeah, living at sea is expensive as fuck, but its going to be an increasingly common luxury for rich libertarians, until hopefully economies of scale make it a viable (non shitty) way to live your life for people with modest market value.
