Excluding emergencies, Mark thinks he won't get up with his baby.  What do you think?

I haven't listened to FTL in the past two days so I actually don't know what you guys are referring to.

When they get up crying at night, they are crying for peanuts.  Babies love peanuts.  Give 'em a handful, they go right back to sleep.

I raised two kids, and got up with both of them. However, my father never did--or would--change a diaper. Didn't happen in his day. Not knowing Mark's wife, I can't say what she will do. However, I'm not sure how a written contract would set with MY wife. Or rather, I know all too well that she'd never go for it!

Best hint for surviving a crying baby is to get a good set of earplugs. Not the crappy foam ones, but the silicone ones--the good stuff. You can still hear if the little monst...tike is crying, but it won't drive you nuts. Or, at least not as much.

Did you know that the hearing babies of deaf people don't cry? They give up the sport, since it does them no good.

I did not know that.

However, I did know your first kid cries and it sounds like a bullhorn,  the second one cries and it sounds like a squeaky balloon.  It amused me to hear a newborn cry after getting used to hearing a toddler holler with larger lungs.

weh weh weh, its like a little noise.  I specifically remember thinking it was somehow smaller hearing the second infant cry.  Maybe its experience.  maybe its just being desensitized to a crying infant and they are quite loud when they can walk.

Hmmm.  My cousin Lisa's husband has deaf parents.  I want to investigate, but by the next time I see them I'll probably forget.  Damn.

There may be some ways Mark can minimize the nightly crying. If mothers have the infant sleep with them the child does not cry as much at night. In some cases not at all. Because the mother is so near there is almost instant feeding/comforting when the baby wakes up. Studies have actually found that the breathing of the mother helps regulate the breathing of the infant and minimizes the risk of SIDS as well.

But what if she turns over in the middle of the night while she's sleeping and crushes/suffocates the baby?
