Non-obvious potential endorsements for Ron Paul
« on: May 05, 2007, 04:09:13 AM »

A GOP nomination would obviously be a dream come true, but I think it's dangerous to make it the sole goal of Ron Paul's 2008 campaign, otherwise we might miss an opportunity for a strong third party / independent showing that could be a stepping stone for 2012.  The Libertarian party nomination is a definite possibility, but what other parties / entities / past independents do you think he has a chance of getting an endorsement from?

Please post items to add to the poll, and ideas for how some of those connections can be forged.  We'd need skillful diplomats to communicate with those people.  The promise of voting reform / rank-based voting might make a tempting carrot...

I don't remember much about the Independence Party, but otherwise, I don't think any of those have much in common with Ron Paul.  If anything, I suppose maybe the Constitution Party agrees with some of the areas in which Ron Paul is less consistent with liberty (they seem to tend to religious conservatism.)

With Bruce Willis coming out as an Alex Jones fan, I wonder if he can get him to campaign for Ron Paul...

Or, what other libertarian celebrities do you think he could get?  ;)

Hey...I noticed Yahoo news has Ron Paul conspicuously absent from their list of candidates.  I fired off a castigation for them.  Here's a link FYI:

There's a petition to get Tucker Carlson (bleh) to nominate Ron Paul.

Please post here if you know of (or start) similar petition!  ;)

Campaigning for endorsements truly is the best way one can help Ron Paul.

How about and enforcement from MacGlafline of the MacGlafline Group. (Not sure how to spell the name) please feel free to correct and post a link.  He did say that Paul gave the best performance.

Not as prominent as I had hoped...  He won't be taken seriously without a lot more viable support - the kind that led even Ahnold to being taken seriously.  And some of those listed above probably need to be double-checked...

For a time I was hoping there'd be an avalanche of closet Objectivists rushing to his side (with Alan Greenspan being the ultimate jackpot!), but then I remembered what views some of them hold on the "War on Terror"...  Damn shame!

I still don't understand how Stossel could support anyone else. He confuses me that way.

The below video makes me wonder if Gravel might end up endorsing or at least forming a strategic alliance of some sorts with the Ron Paul campaign:

John Stossel is the ABC's water boy he isn't about to ruffle his feathers inside that golden cage.

If Ron Paul starts to take off he will support him just like the old saying goes.  When it cost a follower nothing they will support a candidate or an issue.  Only true patriots risk with their support even if the odds seem against them.
