Arguing with statists is fun because they offer no substantial objections 90% of the time.

Note, I got all these responses while talking about "Libertarianism" before going on about anarchy, so this is what people think of libertarianism in general, not just anarchocapitalism.

"Other" for me is roads and education.  The free market can launch satellites into space to manage complex global telecommunications, but somehow building a road or a school is some sort of witchcraft that can only be handled by a group of people who managed to pass a civil service exam.

My dismissal of "Libertarianism" is that I don't want to be associated with libertarians. I would say about 50% of people who call themselves libertarians are really republicans, and and 25% are fucking nuts.

I am probably more "libertarian" than most FSP members......if it is about how you live, not how you talk.
Many libertarians are shit talkers/daydreamers. They just want to write essays and argue about how it should be.

I would have to say it's the necessary evil argument that annoys me the most anymore. Especially when arguing for the downsizing of unnecessary programs like farm subsidies and airline subsidies. Since when did the government need to make the market feasible for these things? I thought people loved to eat and loved to fly?

1.  Roads.  Guess you don't like driving on roads or something retarded like that.
2.  Supervillainy.  Usually involves these elements.  Evil Monopolistic corporations, mercanary armies and atomic weapons. all for the purpose of making me buy super expensive bottled water which for some inexplicable reason is produced by only one megacorporation.
3.  Road Warrior.  The whole world would suddenly erupt into rioting and barbarism.
4.  Kooky Klown.  Who but a kook could ever believe something like liberty is a good thing.  It is a bizarre and silly belief which is fit for ridicule and then marginalization.
5.  Manchurian Libertarian.  Yes.  I have been accused on a few occasions of being too dimwitted to think for myself [coincidently for not marching lockstep with majority opinion] and having been brainwashed by far right canned propaganda.
6.  Greedy.  Yeah.  I am just a greedy selfish miserly sexist and yet amazingly charming and funny asshole.

Bottom line.  There is NO way to hold a libertarian mindset EXCEPT respect for fellow man.

Then there is the

WHAT about the children/poor/women/lesbian seagulls/little guy/our jobs/etc.

I've noticed a tendency for people to simply throw one silly objection after another.  If they say you cannot get rid of a certain program or policy they will simply throw one cliched response after another.

  • "If you don't like it here, why don't you just leave/change things by political means"

With this one.  I just say something like.

"I risked my life for this country in that asshole of a country Iraq and I will be damned if I will let some commie pinko hippy like you to tell me to get out.  I think I've earned the God damned right to say whatever the fuck I want to." and otherwise make a big scene of acting all indignant.

I get that one all the time and when I reply to that with the private charity response I  get  "it won't work" but they never give a real reason why it won't just that it won't.
