It's slightly pointless for me to get a gun now, since I live on campus and can't have a gun even with a Concealed Carry Permit.  After I graduate from college I'm certainly going to get one.

(I'd get a gun anyway, but it's automatic, no-questions-asked expulsion from the University if I get caught with a gun on school property, except carrying it to the shooting range or back to the police station)

Do they raid your rooms on a regular basis or strip search you? If that sounds like a weird question, they did it to me at my school on a weekly basis.

If they do not, then your chances of needing to use a weapon are much higher than ever being caught with it. I would carry the firearm in spite of the rules, particularly if I were not the hulking fellow that I am.
