Punk rock to me has always been a political enigma. Some claim the anarchist moniker but spout socialist views. Nevertheless, punk rock has always been my first love.

Tough choice.  I voted the Ramones because they have had such a heavy influence on a ton of great punk bands.

For silly factor, though, I love the Dead Milkmen.

Crass
I made a reference to one of their songs a while back which led me to believe that no one here has ever heard of them... I dunno, I call them the greatest.

I agree on Ramones, but I never could get into the sex pistols. Then again I like the New York Dolls, so that figures.

I always thought part of punk was the angst and the delivery, like a performance art.  Some bands wear t-shirts and get out there and strut their stuff, and they sound good, but the Pistols were like a fkn explosion.  They lived it.  They were punk, personnafied.

Quote
On 24 February 2006, the Sex Pistols were officially inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame but they refused to attend the induction, calling the museum a "Piss Stain".[8]
