One thing Ayn Rand said in an interview that stuck with me was that wealthy and famous entertainers win an award and commonly thank God. She said that people thank God when they accomplish something and blame themselves whenever something bad happens. It's fucked up and unhealthy thinking.

Amen.  Just once, I'd like to hear a jock say something like this after a loss:

"I don't know what went wrong out there, but last week I gave God the credit for winning, and this week, I'm gonna have to saddle him with the blame for the loss today.  He completely abandoned me in my hour of need.  Just left me twisting in the wind.  I had good control of all my pitches in warmups, but that cold front blew in just as the game started, the humidity went up, the seams on the ball swelled up, and it blew all of my control straight to hell.  God does weather.  I blame him."

I can't believe I'm still the only one who voted Power, as in 1984 chapters 19 and 20, and that is how religion is used by the elite.

God is not Nature, at least not the modern understanding of it - when was the last time you looked at Nature and observed things found in the Bible?

God is not /dev/null, in the sense that while it is a fiction, it still exists within society, it's not a metaphor for nothingness which is what /dev/null suggests, it's a metaphor for something else.

If you Love a person and want to create a myth for his/her enjorment, like the easter bunny or the tooth fairy, would that myth be symbolized by an ancient torture device with a 2000-year-old anarcho-socialist attached to it?  With our modern understanding of the world, would a Love-promoting myth promise eternal hellfire for even thinking about masturbation or coveting a BMW?

And if it was a mere superstition, which is a relative concept that's always identified outside the mainstream, something the best and the brightest within the society would look down at.  Look at how all the news networks cover the Pope's visit as if he was the master of the universe?  God is something that the vast majority of this nation, including our Commander-in-Chief, claim to very seriously believe in.  Clearly there's a deliberate purpose to that.  And that purpose is a political one.

It just goes to show that if you ask an open-ended question you don't get the answer you hoped for.  :P

If you want a specific answer you should study the methods of Luntz.

And I would like to take this opportunity to say FUCK YOU LUNTZ!!!

None of the above.

God is a blank check on authority to be drawn on by anyone but the only legitimate source of authority: The individual upon whom the authority is used.

As the state feeds off of the limitation and destruction of legitimate government, anarchy is its essence.

To claim "economic rent" from someone Else's labor when applied to land, which is something no one can own outright, is in itself, to claim landlord status over raw nature. It is an attempt at coercive monopoly power that is at the root of statism.
