Though I've used a lot of British bathrooms (excuse me, toilets), and I don't think any of them had a bidet....
We do still call them bathrooms, and no, I've never seen a bidet in this country.
Well, I had a long and meaningless discussion with a friend of mine in a Manchester pub concerning which is the proper term. He contended that people don't usually want to take a bath when they ask for the bathroom, and I contended that people don't generally want just a toilet either-- plop a toilet in the middle of a living room, and most people won't be happy using it. From what I recall, it ended up a stalemate. Both of us agreed, however, that bidets are beautiful.
