I am not circumcised and honestly I dont think it makes any difference what so ever. People say its more sanitary to be or not to be. I think the only difference is the cosmetics of it really.

I've not really developed a solid opinion on it.  I'd say if I had a son, I'd probably go ahead and skip it unless it becomes medically necessary - which would not happen until later in life as is.  I think it's becoming more and more common to skip out on doing it, since I've met and spoken with more men who have not been circumsized than men who have been.

today, in many countries, if you walked into a religious ceremony where a male infant's genitalia were being mutilated...and you rescued the infant, and destroyed the perpetrators...that would be frowned upon...

Second, I think the abandonment of traditional rites of passage, in whatever form, is a serious contributing factor to the infantization of our adolescents.

Body modification isn't inherently good or bad.

however permanently modifying someones body without consent is immoral whatever you're doing, even if you think you're helping them.

I really can't fathom a parent who would want to circumcise their child before they can have any say in the matter whatsoever. More bullshit parenting based on having a legacy in your image instead of helping raise a sentient life.

As far as the merits of circumcision, the only tangible benefit is if you are having sex with someone who has HIV without a condom you're less likely to contract HIV, which I can't recommend as an effective method of not contracting HIV. Also in some countries circumcision is the norm, so if you're the kind of person who wants to do what everyone else is doing, then I guess thats another benefit, although doing things purely to fit in with other people is one of the most fucking idiotic human traits there is.

edit: I'd like an option on the poll that says only forced circumcision is bad. Personally I think its stupid, and I'm glad my parents didn't get me circumcised, but if you're making the decision yourself, its a personal choice, just like anything else, I wouldn't call it bad if its what someone wants for themselves.
