That would be interesting... a Duramax Diesel powered Vette. The car's light weight would mean the gears would have to be tall as shit to keep all the torque from shredding the tires every time you tried to accelerate. That kind of gearing would mean you'd be going 100mph in 6th gear & the tach would be humming along at 1500RPM.

 Hey... thats not a bad Idea. You'll likely get at least 40MPG minimum with that. And with 360HP, 650 Pounds of torque, you should still be able to do 0 to 60 in the low 5s at least.

By '09 the stigma of the Irwin stingray death will be gone, they'll probably use the stingray badge on it.  Camaro is coming back, Firebird is supposedly slated to begin production again, Mustang is out in retro glory to wild success. 

But the body needs work.  Vettes have been lazy in the design department, they've been slowly evolving since the late '80s with no huge redesigns.  It's long overdue.  And dont try telling me the new model was a complete redesign in '99 or whenever the "new" bodys came about, 'cause thats a crock.  At the very least, they should look like the one Mrapplecastle posted, right off the showroom floor. 

When you're paying 60 grand it better be sweet, or I'm going to the Porsche dealer for a trade-in. 

A friend of mine once remarked that anyone who can ACTUALLY afford a Vette wouldnt be caught dead in one.

I driven a Z06 and i just think when you get that much power, and put it at the front of a car it just doesnt work. But if you want straight line accelereation that can match that of the top end ferraris and so on, its the best value out there. If your lookin for great handlin as well as acceleration, ur gonna have to dish out the money for a mid engine ferrari or lambo. Corvette will just never be able to compete with these cars, but then again i dont even think they are trying to.

By the time it comes out I hope the body will be completely different. If not, and they are going retro they sure as hell did a shitty job on the design since it just looks like a C6 with a diff. hood. It'd be sweet supercharged, I wonder if it would be faster than the new Viper. I can't wait to see the final result!
