Best Transportation Animal

(No "other" or gag option this time, sorry.  Assume saddle vs harness as appropriate.)

I came across a "Camels vs Horses" page and it really got my attention.  Turns out that camels are totally awesome!  They make horses look slow, weak, whiney, and dumb.  They also have excellent fur for making warm blankets and their milk (though fatty) is very nutritious and makes great cheese.  I wonder how they handle in the snow?

Also elephants eat too much.  You can get them to run up to 25 MPH, but they're not very maneuverable.

Sled dogs hands down. Seriously. I could train them myself quite easily, and dogs are fucking awesome.
Also, they would be useful year round for transportation, they can save your life by both getting help, or protecting you. What great benefits!

C'mon, carnivorous animals are more expensive to maintain, are more aggressive when pushed hard, and don't have great metabolism.  Guns still make for best protection.  In colder regions, reindeer is king.

I just finished riding your mom for a quarter mile.  I'm not sure she could hold up for a cross country trip.

That's horseshit.  Horses are uncomfortable, bad for your back, and particularly bad for your testicles (if any) - imagine sitting on a wide vibrating log between your legs all day!  And the sound of clicking hooves will drive you mad!  With camels you get a smooth, quiet ride - you can sit on the hump, have perfect visibility, and position your legs for comfort.  And there's even room for a laptop!

Good point. Another reason I'd choose a horse/pony.

Horses are like bicycles-- if you spend a lot of time on time on them your crotch can hurt like hell at first, but after you get used to it it's a non-issue.

And neither one "vibrates," by the way.....you seem to have confused horses with hornets.
