Children of Men was damn, damn good. But it's not sci-fi if we're also calling Serenity sci-fi.
Is it important to note the difference between Space Opera, Sci-Fi and Science Fiction?  I find a brilliant distinction.....

But what about Matrix: Reloaded? That was damn good & NONE of y'all even mentioned it.  :?

Calling Matrix Reloaded a good sci-fi movie is an insult to the term "movie", nevermind to "sci-fi".
Yeah, Matrix 2 & 3 sucked balls.  The original was awesome because of the explanation of the concept.  Very cool.  But then they turned it to shit when they tried to continue it.

As with most sequels, they used up the concept in the first Matrix.

Okay, if not Matrix, then Terminator 2 was a good sequel & sci-fi flick. And worth mentioning.

Oh bullshit...you can't compare Serenity to Aeon Flux. That's like comparing Beethoven to a couple of kids banging some pots together. :x

I watched serenity last night for the first time. The first 5 minutes had me thinking it was going to be pretty sweet. Then it turned into a typical chase movie.

It's a chase movie that did things right.

It's not about the chase, it's about the characters. That's what makes it good.

It was worth it, if only to see Charlize Theron in spandex.
