Well, we're talking about the future here, and one where technological progress seems to be very fruitful, so we might as well assume that there are no criminal "drinking age" laws anymore. I mean, clearly this future scenario doesn't have a nanny state, because a nanny state would never allow people to live very long. It would screw up their centrally-planned socialist medicine routine quite a bit... But, yeah, the "allure" may still be there.
