Okay, here is the deal. Nominate yourself if you think you are the biggest nerd. I will follow the thread and add contestants as it goes along. You may vote for up to two. You may change your votes at any time. I'm leaving this poll open for 31 days.

You can nominate someone other than yourself, but you have to give reasons and I will have to get three mentions of that person before putting them on the list.

If you own more than three computers, you didn't kiss a girl until you were 21, you are 45 and live with your parents, if you have an opinion on what material makes the best heat sink, or if you think the dvorak keyboard is truly the best; whatever your reasons - tell us why YOU are the biggest nerd ever.

If you make suggestions on how to improve this poll then I take that as sufficient proof that you are a nominee.

I won't claim to be the biggest nerd, but:

1. I own over 5000 DVDs
2. I own probably twice that many books.
3. I was on usenet, Compuserve, Genie, and several hundred BBS's in 1986.
4. I had an internet account before the September that never ended.
5. I can admin a VAX/VMS and a tops10.
6. I have 35mm copies of Close Encounters, Jaws, and Raiders of the Lost Ark. (And several less nerdy movies)
7. I had my first sex at 17, so count me off that list.
8. I got a Master's in five years.
9. I can calculate the trajectory of a .308 at over 500 yards, at any wind speed, without referring to tables.
10. I've owned - Odyssey 2, 2000, Atari 2600, 5200, 7800, 800xl, 520st, 1040st, Jaguar, Lynx, Commodore Vic20, C64, c128, Amiga 5000, Nes, Snes, Game Boy, Game Boy Color, N64, Gamecube, WII, Playstation I and II, Sega Master System, Genesis, Saturn, Dreamcast, Turbografix 16, Turboduo, a bunch of systems I guarantee you've never heard of, (Vectrex anyone?) Arcade machines of Tron, Dragon's Lair, Arkanoid, Defender, and a Mame cabinet.
11. I know how to repair a FLIR.
12. My Slashdot UID is less than 500.
13. I have a large selection of plastic figures of various genre, unopened.
14. I was an Objectivist for 15 years.
15. I have every AD&D book and supplement from 1st and 2nd edition. EVERY ONE.

I'm not going to claim to be the biggest nerd either, but here's what I have:

1. I have a library of over 3000 books.
2. I own nearly every major game console from the Channel F to the PS2 (I'm only missing a 3DO, a NeoGeo, and a Vectrex)
3. I have a high school letter for National History Day, and pins for Future Problem Solving and orchestra.
4. I own every printed book on how to speak Klingon, and have a printed copy of the Ferengi Rules of Acquisition in my purse for easy quotation.
5. I got glasses when I was 11.
6. I've played D&D with one boyfriend and met another at a different group.
7. My first computer was an Apple IIe, and I learned BASIC programming on one of those vTech PreComputers.
8. I own every original edition Trivial Pursuit game except the Sports expansion, and no one will play with me except my friend Audrey, since she's the only one that can beat me. (No, I don't sit and read the cards, I'm just a repository for random knowledge.)
