i support sam dodson.  i will never criticize his methods until i have been in his shoes.

It basically comes down to the fact that we do not share the same experiences.  I don't know him personally, but i think its safe to say that sam is a man of principle.  I share alot of his principles, but he has taken them to an extent that is foreign to me.  I don't have adequate knowledge to say what i would or would not have done in his situation.  I can only discover this by experiencing it myself.  Until i do this, i don't think criticism is justified.

I agree, although I wouldn't call Sam stupid. Just mistaken.

I've said it before: One guy defying a bad law is useless. Many people defying a bad law all at the same time are effective.

Oh--and the hunger strike thing has never made sense to me. Do the authorities really care if someone misses some meals? It just saves them time and money. It's hardly a case of, "My GOD--he's not eating! What are we going to do?"

It's sort of like a kid who holds his breath until getting his way.

But, I sympathize with Sam, and wish him the best.

I think the hunger strike thing is designed to catch someones attention that normally wouldn't think about this kind of thing; someone not of the liberty mindset.  I doubt he ever meant for the hunger strike to make the cops free him.  The people that work at the jail, their lives are surrounded with people in cages.  They choose to be part of the system.  Only thing they consider is the power and the paycheck.

You have an opinion on the matter.  You have an opinion on the people working at the jail and you have no problem criticizing them.  So it is OK with them but not with Sam?
