Quantum physics is a hiding hole for all sorts of wacky theories.

Exactly.  Watching "What the Bleep Do We Know" gave me the strong impression that quantum physics is appealing to a lot of new agey types because it's a science that is relatively poorly understood and so has a lot of crevices where they can insert magical explanations and invoke forces that sound like the supernatural.

Aren't atomic particles transporting position and existing in two places at once examples of "wacky" physics?

Can you be more specific?

The difference is, theres actual quantum mechanics science, and then theres using that science to super impose your own pseudo scientific beliefs onto them.

What I think you might be refering to is particle duality, as explained by the double slit experimnet. While it is "wacky" science, as in it does not conform to many of our expectations, it is science. Repeatable, empirical, and based on evidence. It is in a completely different league from using that same science, and coming up with "wacky" theories on gods, spirits and a nebulous supernatural concept of "energy".

Taors believes in the occult, spiritual beings and all matter of unsubstantiated bullshit, and whenever I have discussed it with him he has gone the tact of "I don't need to prove it, it works for me". So if he is trying to use quantum physics as proof of any of that I would suspect he is being highly disingenuous.

Saying X particles behave in a certain way so dimension X, deity Y, or supernatural force Z exists is classic nonsequitir.

The only thing particle duality proves is particle duality. You don't suddenly get to use it as evidence for your own bullshit because you "feel" like they're somehow linked. Prove it or admit its a faith.

We were just casually conversing, and i don't remember exactly what he said, nor in the context he said it.  Don't forget all i asked was a question (not a loaded one either).   There is no need to be aggressive my friend.  I am not Taors, and Taors is not me.

Thanks for the link on particle duality.

Edit: As far as the occult stuff, i think Taors will be the first to admit that its very possible that he is potentially full of shit.  In fact, he used those exact words when i was talking with him.

Maybe he is just trying to use a model to gain understanding, rather than absolute truth.

I wasn't meaning to be aggressive. When I was saying you I was meaning it in the general sense of "people".

The double slit thing is also used by some LoAers, because observation of subatomic particles can change their properties, they make the massive stretch of using this as "proof" that the universe somehow reacts to our minds, which is completely unsubstantiated, though transparently a logical extension of the same theory.

Was Taors gone?  I haven't noticed.

See, I don't pay attention to people who change aliases often (aka "nick hoppers"), at least since I was pressured to abandon my open effort to keep track of them.  They're just a faceless mob as far as I'm concerned.

There could just as easily be an infinite number of dimensions.

from the perspective of a blueprint, a dimension is a bit of data describing something.
The more dimensions you have the more info you know about that object

saying there are 10 dimensions is just a arbitrary as saying there are 3,4 or 5.

smoke some saliva and it will become clear  :P
