Anyone have any good NYC stories?
no. How bout pictures?

I lived in NYC for a few month....in this building:

it was right next to the Brooklyn Bridge, and at night I would climb the cables to the top of this:

I came down on an outter cable once, and had to cross one of these things to get back to the inner part of the bridge:

I went to NYC in December... bought a car and drove it back to Kansas.

I will never ever go back to Brooklyn if I have anything to say about it. Half the roads had little to no lane markings, three lanes wide, with people driving like shit everywhere! People double parked on BUSY streets. Half the roads are like a damn Baja race. You know, we have some the best roads I've ever driven on, here in Wichita KS, so I never thought about it much, but anyone who argues against private roads -- just sent them to Brooklyn. Holy crap.

The craziest thing was staying at a Days Inn (for $150, and it was the cheapest I could find!) in what I THOUGHT was a ghetto (south side of Brooklyn)... really trashy and run down buildings. However I noticed all the cars were $50k+ in value... odd dichotomy.

The Brooklyn Bridge at about 11AM was fun... its like what, 6 lanes wide, and you get to the tollbooths and theres like 24 counting both sides of the bridge, total pandemonium... and you have to pay $10 just to experience it. I'm REALLY suprised I made it to Pennsylvania without making a wrong turn even once.

Now, PA on the other hand was awesome. The main east/west interstate (forget what it is now... 80?) is very scenic and never hits a major city!

Oh, I met Linus Torvalds and Nick Cave in NYC.

I had Mr. Torvalds sign a RH CD, and Mr. Cave sign his book.

I paid $60 a night for 2 beds/people. Decent rooms too. Just a short walk to the PATH subway that goes right to NY.

Nice hotel suites, all expenses paid by AMPlifiers!  They talk about it several times each podcast!

For various reasons, it makes sense for us to stay at the hotel where the convention is taking place.  It should be noted, that this time the convention cost us less than last year because we did not have to fly.

Yes, getting I&M to rub elbows with the big boys of Big Old Radio helps the show, but it helps their careers more.
My career?  If you think I'm going to allow some radio bigwig to buy me out, you don't know me very well.

Ian is a poopieheaded, AMP money spending, malnourished, underappreciated, anarchist after his own dreams of becoming a radio talk show legend while helping to eliminate corporate sponsored government and attempting to institute a sustainable free market.

I kinda admire the guy, actually. :)

That is where the money is. Start a company, never make a profit, and sell. Rinse and repeat. That is my plan, at least.

Are you saying you stayed in Newark?  I cannot tell but I do know that Newark sucks.  It takes all of the worst of NYC (none of the good) and places it right across the river.

It's not in Newark, it's right across the street from the Holland Tunnel. The area is right next to a big shopping mall, so it's pretty decent. It's not like it's in the middle of the ghetto.

Whether it is a good idea or not, Ian is never going to allow FTL to be bought by some big media company. BELIEVE me when I say this. I would like nothing better than to get some big contract and split a huge signing bonus, but Ian WILL NOT be controlled by an overbearing Program Director.

Secondly, in response to the general thread, If anyone thinks I consider sleeping in the same bed as Ian anything but a sacrifice for FTL, they are sadly mistaken.
