When people hear this they think:

You're a liberty-loving activist
You're a nerd for knowing a latin phrase
You're a racist
Nobody knows this phrase
I don't know this phrase

I often want to use this phrase, but have been shying away from it because I don't want to be associated with the revisionist stigma of racism that permeates every facet of the war between the states.

I only use it around people who know what it means and appreciate it.

Or around Lincoln cultists just to piss them off.

I once used this phrase to get an ad hoc sightseeing trip.

I was at a friends wedding in Chicago, and I realized all his friends lived in the same neighborhood that I was crashing in. I was able to hitch a ride with a couple who I met at the wedding. In the car I made a reference to the assassination of Lincoln, and they asked if I was a history buff.

Why yes I am.

They then gave me a 2 hour tour of historic Chicago. Pretty darn cool.

That phrase always reminds me of Brutus. I completely forgot about the reference to Lincoln.

It is the motto of Virginia and supposedly John Wilkes Booth said that after he leaped to the stage in Ford's Theater just before leaving the theater.

The literal meaning of "Sic semper tyrannis" is that sick dinosaurs lose their temper.

To think, this was the second to last thing that went through Abraham Lincolns mind.

I know that the ancient Romans had knowledge that became lost during the Dark Ages but I was not aware that they had knowledge that dinosaurs existed. The ancient Romans were not that ancient.

Meh. Head would have been funnier. You can't really put a bullet through someone's mind.

where would the mind be located on my body?  Is it in my dick?  My left arm?  My chest?  As far as I knew, and obviously I know nothing. . .the mind is a work of the brain and the brain resides in the skull (the head).

I think it's funny.
