the guy that rents the apt from me in same bldg. works for psnh (public service of new hampshire)

Two trees snapped in half in my apt. complex alone, and I got off work early since we lost power at the office.

I've also decided that "ice storm" is one of the most badass types of weather created.

We had a bad ice storm about 5 years ago- much like the one I've seen pics of in NH right now, but not as widespread.

Trees snapping all night, limbs crashing down. Our neighborhood was sealed off due to all the tress that came down.

What I remember most was me telling my drunk neighbors not to stand face to face in front of each other- while one held branches and the other used a chainsaw to cut them...

Neither had I until yesterday.

Basically, it's rain right at freezing temperature, so that as soon as it hits the ground it turns to ice. It leaves a thick glaze of ice on trees, which snap with the added weight, and take powerlines with them.
