Red flag...sounds just like the pitch for a Multi Level Marketing (MLM) scam.

Bullshit if you ask me.

MLM would be a service to teach you to recruit and teach other teachers as a primary part of the model. This is just teaching you to teach students directly, that's it.

If there were a market for this service, there would be people posting want ads all over the internet saying "someone teach me english and I'll pay you for your services." (with the help of an english speaking friend of course) The internet is a two way street when it comes to services needed. If someone needs a service they can ask for it. Just google "wanted: someone to teach me to speak english" You'll find nothing really. This is bullshit for sure. If not, show me people who are making money at this. It should be a simple task if that is the case.

I'm not trying to prove anything to you. But there are people who pay money for this service. Do you realize that there are different size markets for different things? Just because there is a market for something, doesn't mean there would be people posting ads "all over the internet" to ask for english teachers. And why do there even need to be people posting ads asking for the service at all, if they're just responding to ads which are offering the service? When's the last time you saw an ad someone posted asking "please show me a place to buy cheap plastic crap. help!"

@freeagent and quickmike, how much is your time worth to you? If you could pay someone $30 to teach you in a few hours something that you're interested in doing, would that be worth it to you? What if they've had a lot of experience in it, and can teach you techniques that can save you dozens of hours worth of trial and error in the skill you're trying to learn?

@bizurke, I can assure you it's not a scam! I agree that the page does look like any other internet sales page, but apparently that's the route he chose to take in writing his page (and it might not have been the best route for the FTL Sunday audience). He does provide quite a bit of information, templates, and extras to help you with finding and teaching students for the $30. It doesn't make the money for you automatically, but if you're willing to put in the work, yes, you can make money doing that working from home.

Is this intended to eventually *be* the new FTL site, or just a supplement site for show prep?  If the former, then I suggest having the content of the current FTL home page (the FTL-related news) be a tab at the top of the page, so you can toggle between the FTL news and show prep stories.

Update: He found a video showing the boobs. All is well.

No it's not.  I still haven't.
Enjoy:

Those videos do not show nipples.

That's the point they've been making.
The first one certainly does, at about 4:57 left in the vid.  The second is not as obvious, but there's a very brief glimpse right as she's being arrested.

I understand bandwidth isn't free.  Theres a lot of downloadable stuff on ftl.com which when clicked plays through your media player.

When the NSFW topics were so vigorously debated, what was the big argument?  Work, of course.  Thats where a number of people said they listen to the show, myself included.  Plenty of time to do so, but not a friendly environment to use a bit client.  They get far more traffic from listeners streaming the show via the seven day list on a monthly basis than they would from the people who will hold their interest through all ten chapters of the book.

I would imagine most people who aren't hardcore would stream the first few chapters and lose interest, no offense.  I think I saw someone say once they have a few TB of monthly traffic allotment.  A few hundred MB isn't going to make a dent, especially after the initial frenzy is past, which is happening right now.

I think its cool that theres a HQ version circulating in torrent form.  I'm just saying it should be more accessable to the less computer literate with a simple click.  If they want people to hear it, simplicity is the key.

I'll have to go back later and scope out the main page, when I initially looked it was a redirect to somewhere else, maybe I overlooked a link.  But it looked to me that there was no book hosted here, just the shows and promos.

I don't really understand what your problem is.  The medium quality version is downloadable directly.  Why does someone need direct access to the high quality version specifically?  If they want it, then they need to know how to get it.

The 6 day FTL archives, as well as the medium quality version of the book aren't inherently streams.  If someone goes to get them, they will be downloading the entire thing first.  There might be software you can use to stream them, but the average user doesn't have that.

Thanks to Laissez Faire Books, we are able to bring you a free audiobook, "The Market for Liberty". This brilliant book explains why government is an unnecessary evil and how the Free Market is superior in every possible way. Available in both medium quality and high quality MP3s. Download it free here: http://book.freekeene.com

The Polling Pit / Re: do you obey the law

At this point, I don't go out of my way to break the law, but in general, I don't go out of my way to follow it either.  If it's a stupid law, and I think I can get away with it, I have no problems breaking it.  If I think there's a good chance I will get caught, though (although this might change once I'm in NH), like if there's a police officer right in front of me, then I'll probably follow it for the sake of not getting thrown in jail.

I am a UPS man. What do Libertarians think of labor unions?

I think as long as there is no law requiring a person to belong to a union if they work at a particular job, or a law requiring an employer to hire a non-union person, even if they only want to hire union people (which is my understanding of how "right-to-work" states work) then I don't see what the problem is, because at that point people are just interacting on a voluntary basis.

On a personal note, I think unions can sometimes serve a purpose (especially in the past during the Industrial Revolution to get better working conditions) but I think unions can be bad sometimes.  From what I see (my father-in-law belongs to a union) they seem to come from the point of view that all workers are equal and should get equal pay.  What this translates to in practice is that often a lazy worker will get paid the same as an industrious worker -- there's not much incentive to work harder.
