The gf and I were talking about stuff and she came up with one of her hypothetical strawman scenarios concerning eminent domain and what would happen under a 100% free market system as opposed to what we have now.
I didn't really have a good answer for her. Maybe you could do better.
Here it is......
Lets say we have a totally free market system where everyone has 100% ownership of their own land and full mineral rights to whatever lies below it. Now lets suppose there is a GIANT fucking meteor, twenty miles wide is headed directly towards the earth and the only thing that can stop it from crashing into us and ending all life as we know it is a mineral used to create the explosive powerful enough. Now, lets say the only source of that mineral is directly under your nutty religious neighbors land and he decides "Nah, let it crash into us...... its god's will, it was meant to be, so you cant drill under my property". No amount of money will get him to change his mind about the situation. Time is running out.
I know its a bullshit situation, but what if? Do you just take it (my answer to her) and save the planet, or respect his property rights and let the world end?

Caught this sonofabitch lurking around inside my workshop/shed. The gf wants it dead. I told her that these bugs kill and eat the bad bugs we dont want hangin around, so I should take it a few feet out of the shed and let it go to kill other bugs once again. She doesn't give a fuck.
Ok, I know its technically not a bug, so back off. But its a fucking bug, ok?
Its a big'un too. About the size of an old timey silver dollar. Never seen one this big, around here anyway. If I didn't know better, I'd think it was a tarantula if it just had more fur on it. The dog even growls at it, which he's never done with a bug before........ever.
I thought I'd let you assholes decide its fate, via democratic vote.
At this time, it is being held captive in a bucket. Whichever way the vote goes by midnight tonight, EST (7/7/11) is what I will do with it.
I dont really care either way to be honest. I just thought it would be fun to do this.
I vote pro-life on this one.

Illinois state Pig pulls me over for no seatbelt this weekend.
He says "Well, the good news is that seatbelt violations went from 75 bucks, down to 60."
Yay. Feels so much better when you get robbed and the guy gives back a little.
He also said, and I quote, "Yeah, we used to just go after the gang bangers for this, but they all started wearing their seatbelts, so to make up for it, we had to start going after everyone else."
All I could think of to say was "Alright, just give me my ticket........... and you guys wonder why everyone hates your guts"

Just wondering what you guys though about this.
I have a dog that runs around in the woods alot and mosquitos are fuckin INSANE around here. You can stand still at the edge of my property for less than a minute and you'll have about 20 of em feasting on your blood. Most pet owners know that mosquitos are the host of heartworms, which can screw your dogs day up pretty quick if it gets infected.
My problem is, I dont want to give him heartworm tablets because they are basically poisonous chemical insecticides. If it kills heartworms, it cant be good for a dog either I would think, over the long term, and this was somewhat verified by a particular vet I talked to as well. I used to give them to him about 2 yrs ago, but for about 3 days after giving him the monthly pill, he always seems run down, nose warm(not good on a dog). It was like clockwork.... give him the pill, he acts sick for 2-3 days.
So, I decided to instead put a insect repellent on him to keep the mosquitos away, lowering the risk of being exposed to heartworms via mosquito bites in the first place. Problem with that was, all the good stuff has DEET in it, which is a poison, which is no big deal if you dont lick the stuff off your skin, but thats exactly what he did when I put it on him once, so no more of that. Then I found this stuff made by Coleman that is natural lemon eucalyptus oil, with no harsh chemicals in it that im aware of. I put the stuff on myself and it seems to work pretty good. Didn't get one bite in 30 min in the woods today.
Any of you guys do anything like this? Any opinions on the subject would be appreciated....... except "just give him the damn heartworm pills"....... that aint gonna happen. Even had a licensed vet north of here tell me "yeah, its basically poison, but its a trade off" fuck that.

General / My little inflation aggravation rant

About 1 hr ago I had to go to wal mart to get my dog some of these little tennis ball/fetch things he likes to chase and tear the shit out of. So, while im there, I decide to get some kind of snack product, cuz I've been laying off the sweets lately, trying to balance out my cigarette/booze consumption with laying off sugary stuff. Anyway, I used to like these Little Debbies fudge rounds things. Like two brownies with chocolate cream/thick paste stuff in between them....like a chocolate sammich, and decided that THOSE tasty fuckers were what I wanted.
I get a box, bring em home, and low and behold...... the things are like 1/3 the size they used to be and theres only 8 in a box instead of the old school dozen. Ok, I understand inflation and having to give ya less for more and blah blah blah, but heres my problem........
These assholes KNOW they're not fooling anyone with the less for more trick, so why do they even bother? Instead of eating one of em, now I have to eat 3 for the same effect....thats almost half the box when it used to be one would do. What enraged me is that I'd be fine paying 5 bucks for a box if they would just leave the size/quantity the same. Now, theyre little, not as good, and they pissed me off by thinking that I, or anyone else for that matter, wouldn't know the difference. Fine, make the small ones for people who are watching every penny and charge a little less, but for the people who dont give a fuck about 3 more bucks when they have a sweet tooth, just charge more and leave shit alone................ Dumb-asses.
Fuck Little Debbie, that bitch....... still has that big smile on her face on the package too.

Yes, I know its hard to believe, but its 100% TRUE.
Let me take you through what happened........
Today, about 9:30am CST, I was working out in this little podunk town called Homer, IL putting a 2.4 GHz parabolic antenna on a radio tower for a farm CO-OP that needed it for its DTN farm reports and whatnot. Anyway, it starts raining a bit and I could hear thunder out in the distance, so I had to call it quits about half way through the job. I get in my work van and start driving home down this curvy wooded road right next to a creek that runs through the area. So im jamming out to Pink Floyd's The Great Gig In The Sky feelin' good, happy in the knowledge that my work day is done early and I can just go home and relax.
All of the sudden, right out in front of my work van, comes this fuzzy, brown, blurry shape running from right to left. I try hitting the brakes, but to no avail. BAMM!!! Whatever it is, does considerable damage to my front right quarter panel and I eventually come to a complete stop. I get out to have a peek at what could have hit my van with such force, and low and behold, its Bigfoot. I wanted to call the authorities to come out and check it out, but I was well beyond any cell signal strong enough to make a call. Needless to say, I was FREAKED THE FUCK OUT!!!. I though to myself "WTF am I gonna do with this thing? I cant just leave it on the side of the road, to rot and be eaten by buzzards and coyotes. I've gotta do something"
Then I remembered the old Lummi Nation indian tribe saying that says "If Sasquatch is ever captured, you must honor the lifeforce and lay it to rest at bottom of creekbed."
So, needless to say, being that I didnt want a whole bunch of Lummi indian spirits fucking with me for the rest of my days, I pulled the corpse of the creature down to the edge of the creek, tied a bunch of non-buoyant logs, maybe about 60 lbs each to its extremities with some bungy cords I use for work sometimes. Then I chucked him in the water, never to be seen again.
Luckily, to satisfy your curiosity and for my credibility, I first took a photo of the creature with my 8mp HD camera on my cell phone. I figured, if I didn't, there would be no way anyone would believe that I actually killed Sasquatch. I wouldn't believe it either.
Anyway, heres the proof below, taken on my 8mp HD camera. Just wanted to put to rest any doubts about my story.

It would be politically incorrect for the gubment to do a QE3, kiss of death for any politician who supports it, so assuming they dont do it, how will they pay their debts? WTF is going on?

I get home from work today and every little sound...........refridgerator motor running, dog chewing his food, someone driving past my house, any little sound is really pronounced and seems louder than usual. Almost as if I've attained some kind of spidey sense or something making my sense of hearing 3x more sensitive.
