@Sven, thanks for sharing information you've learned - my medicinal use is about as medicinal as a glass of wine or a martini....
Definitely the fresher the better, and I'll take almost anything homegrown compared to the street from Mexico (bricks) that who knows how old it is.

My uncle once said about wine, that a good wine is a wine you like. "Medicinal" cannabis has become a lot like that. Good medicine is medicine that works for you. I know what I want out of my medicine, so I start with a recommendation for pain and grow very mature. I also bake for almost all of my use, which gives me "body high" (which is really inaccurate, but it's what people say.) It puts me into "tolerating life with pain" mode. Now, there's a lot of medicinal that isn't about that. For the uninitiated, I'd suggest reading what seed providers have to say about their varieties. You could do that, or go to a patient who's already treating a similar malady and find out what works for them, and why. If they can give you good answers, they've probably been observant. If they can't, they probably haven't been.
All that said, I've been growing almost exclusively the same variety since I started. Why? My caregiver originally gave it to me for pain, and it worked well--better than what I'd gotten elsewhere--and I was able to get clones from her. The funniest part is that I'm not even certain what variety it actually is. I just know it works, and I know other pain patients I've shared it with say it works as well or better than anything they've tried.
so Ken, you don't develop a tolerance for that same plant that leaves you feeling well, normal? Seems like I have to constantly try and use new and different strains to get the same effect.
