General / Starting a podcast show in the Indianapolis area.
« on: March 15, 2012, 05:08:56 PM »
Im thinking about starting up a liberty-oriented podcast in the Indianapolis/central Indiana area and wonder if anyone here would be interested, or might know of anyone in this area, in joining up in this effort.

General / Possible spam email from the FTL board
« on: August 16, 2011, 02:19:09 AM »
I was checking my email today when I noticed an email from a Benita Duma and she had her email address as well.  It just said she read my post and wanted to get to know more about me. I replied that I wasn't aware of her and find this email very peculiar.  I then got another email from a Michael Hampton that I he hasn't heard from me in "X" amount of time because I haven't been on the forum in "X" amount of time.  I have no clue who in the hell either of these people are.  WTF is this?  Is anyone aware of any spam issues with the bbs?  Spam like this pisses me off to no end and if I receive any more of these and I'll be signing off for good. At any rate Ill be all over facebook like normal and possibly google plus in the future so anyone can look me up there.

I was talking to a new manager at work (in a warehouse environment) that just got his Industrial Engineering degree at Purdue Univ. and we were talking about how cool it would be to have a flow like map in a computer screen where you can see the layout of a factory/warehouse w/ each station, people, processes involved..in real time.  We were talking about one that would have the overall live feed map of whats going on operationally as well as a section of the screen where you can run tests, simulations, and reports on..kinda like a professional supply chain version of Microsoft Kinect (or hopefully closer to the one like in "Minority Report.")  I was checking google to see what is actually out there and wondered if anyone knows if something like this is out there on the market.  I can see companies like SAP or Oracle being involved in something like this right now.

General / Business social media forums
« on: April 26, 2011, 12:36:00 PM »
I was wondering if anyone out there knows of any social media site for business people that has a BBS/forum like this one?  Of course the main one is linkedin and Ive been a part of that but it seems pretty worthless and theres no forum to post questions in (that I know of at least).  Technorati is pretty popular but its really only for the I.T. field, right?  I'm mainly concerned with the operations management field.  Thanks.

General / Comment about the local tea party-Israel flag waver there
« on: April 16, 2011, 03:09:52 AM »
I was off work today and thought I would go downtown Indianapolis (I live 10-12 minutes away from there) today to see whats up with the tea party crowd at the statehouse.  I got to talking to a few people-one local businessmen who hasn't even heard of Austrian economics and was pretty accurate in how he was explaining the federal reserve, the housing crisis, and the current state of the economy..pretty cool guy overall and seems to get the message about liberty.  Another professional (a CPA) whose wife is really involved in their local atea party groups and was just talking about how intrusive governments at all levels have been.  It was nice talking to a few people but in general it was just a bunch of republican-worshipping middle-aged statists...I guess the plus is that they are least starting to use the "constitution" term in their conversations.

What killed me was this complete inbred, trailer-trash moron with the American flag pants and t-shirt waving a huge-ass flag of Israel.  What kills me is he kept walking around waving the damn thing.  There was so much I could have said to this guy I wouldnt know where to start but it was crazy.  They also had a booth of a state rep who wants to introduce Arizona's draconian, gestapo-like immigation law here in Indiana.

I was downtown long enough by the time the speeches started "Here's our first guest-hes a veteran of the Iraq war..blah, blah blah." I could tell it was my que to leave.  Also, as I left I saw a bunch of younger people come in which is cool.  I just noticed in the past there was a good deal more people and a lot more "Atlas Shrugged" signs and after talking to a few I could tell they actually read the book as well as more "Don't Tread On Me" flags.

It certainly wasn't the crowd to bring up minarchy or voluntaryism/anarchocapitalism but oh well.

General / Starting a local libertarian education group
« on: March 07, 2011, 04:53:56 AM »
I think Ive brought up this topic before but never the less I would still like to do it sometime...and in the near future too.  Does anyone have any suggestions/advice for how to start a local libertarian group going?  Im not talking about with the local Libertarian Party-they already have social gatherings, financial meetings, campaigns, etc.  Im talking about trying to teach people-property rights, basic economics, and mainly how the NAP can be applied to nearly any subject.  I grew up a few miles west of here in the suburbs and am thinking about there but I almost want to say screw it...theres just too many brainwashed statists yuppies and I think I would just get in too many screaming matches there..but who knows.  Ive kind of been thinking about going to a building in the inner city to teach people there simply because the seem to need it the most and might be the most open to it.

At any rate, would a powerpoint presentation be helpful or should I just have nothing?  Also, would putting pamplets around the area help out at all?

General / Major computer problem
« on: February 20, 2011, 10:55:02 PM »
I can only go online in safe mode-not regular mode with my piece of shit Dell desktop.  Just to note I have Microsoft Vista.  I have tried everything under the sun including trying different anti-malware and anti-viruses in safe mode and regular mode after several system restores, googled the question to find a response, and tried to look for any root cause on my computer but I guess the idiots at Dell expect all of their customers to have Masters degrees and multiple computer certifications under their belt before they buy one of their pieces of shit computers.  Can anyone help me out here?

Thanks,

General / Question about the number of federal firearms laws
« on: December 20, 2010, 10:49:59 PM »
Does anyone know how many federal firearms laws there are?  Ive heard a number of about 1,200 before.  I've done some checking online and only found a few major ones but I dont think that low number included smaller laws snuck into other pieces of legislation or subclauses of major laws.

General / NH election results
« on: November 03, 2010, 09:44:46 PM »
Ive done a bit of googling and found N.H. election results talking about Ayotte and Lynch winning but that was about it.  Who won in the U.S. House of Reps and who won in the state congress?  I'm kind of thinking that Repubs will tend to be more pro-liberty, and I would hope Libertarian Party members, at the state level but isn't there hundreds of state representatives?

General / "First they came" tshirt
« on: October 10, 2010, 03:02:26 PM »
Ive thought of a great idea for a "First they came" t-shirt.  If anyone can create a cool design and make the t-shirt I would be willing to buy it.  Here it goes-

"They came first for the wealthy, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't wealthy. Then they came for the inner city black people, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't an inner city black person.  Then they came for the immigrants, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't an immigrant.  Then they came for the young couple with kids and I didn't speak up because I wasn't in a relationship  and I didn't have kids.  Then they came for me and by that time there was no one left to speak up."

If anyone can make one like this let me know.  Thanks.

General / Question on interest rates
« on: October 06, 2010, 04:56:34 AM »
Besides reading a few books already on Austrian economics I feel like I have a lot of questions left over.  I have one on interest rates.  Feel free to let me know where and went I'm wrong if I am here-right now in the U.S. interest rates should be much higher because of the lack of saving by individuals, business, organizations, etc (not talking about the government spending here) leads to less money available in the economy, right?  On the other side, if people had saved there would be more money in the banks available to be lent out and the interest rate could go down-is that part right?  Obviously right now interest rates are down artifically because of the fed pumping money into the system.  How is that money pumped in?  Is it through fractional reserve banking or another one of the feds practices? Also, how and when does short and long term lending (getting a loan for a car, house, business project, etc) come in?

I was going to ask this on the Mises site's forum but I tried to log in and wasn't available and I'm not sure if the Mises profs would take the time to answer this. I'm guessing the people on here seem pretty knowledgeable about this kinda stuff and could answer in some detail.  Thanks.

General / Mozilla Firefox question
« on: September 16, 2010, 05:09:07 PM »
Does anyone know how to add an application, or do anything to Firefox, to get the top left hand box on the screen that IE8 has?  On my IE8 there is the "file, edit, view, favorites, tools, and help" toolbar tabs on the left hand corner and I cant get that on my Firefox.  Can anyone help me out here?  Thanks.

General / Facebook debates
« on: August 12, 2010, 02:30:54 AM »
It seems that for the last several weeks I've been addicted to facebook talking to people I know and checking out a ton of groups and organizations on the site.  Some of those groups and organizations have are so-called "liberty minded"-a states rights group and a "true patriots" group are anything BUT friendly to liberty.  Last night I was on the Future of Freedom Foundation group and I was arguing with a warmonger and Jacob Hornberger articulately and accurately brought up points this moron just totally refused to agree on.

A few nights ago I checked out an article on the "true patriots" group page where people were talking about what they would like to do to Mexico and immigrants.  One guy said he wanted to nuke the country, another said he would bring his 50 caliber sniper rifle (I doubt he even has one) down to the border and shoot everyone coming across it.  A third person wanted to be his spotter.  Tonight I saw an article on a states right group page where people were celebrating the proposed Florida law that will be even more strict towards immigrants the the Az. law.  I made a comment that "the next step will be to put RFID chips in immigrants so we will know where they are" and that elicited some pretty strong emotions from people.  I dont even want to know how many people would be for that.  What the fuck is wrong with these people? Are this many Americans just flat-out brainwashed?  Some vile cunt even had the audacity to say that I was "self-righteous."  So I know what liberty/freedom is and the threats to it, so therefore I'm self righteous?  Being confident and knowing what you are talking about is different than being self-righteous.  Is this the only liberty-friendly group/website on planet earth!!!??  Who wants to join me in blasting these statist fucks to pieces?

I was wondering what the best site is to go for youtube downloading.  I tried CNET but that didn't seem to work as well as youtubedownload.altervista.org and it didn't work either.  Any suggestions?

General / Indianapolis shooting incident
« on: July 18, 2010, 02:29:00 AM »
http://www.wthr.com/Global/story.asp?S=12827560

This just happened here tonight downtown at the Black Expo and I'm sure it will be all over the news in the next few weeks. I noticed how the police reported (in a video) that one of the kids arrested had pot on him and a firearm.  I guess thats killing 2 birds with one stone for the govt.  Its just more justification for stricter prohibition laws for pot and firearms.  They also mention the curfew for teenagers, which even though its been going on for along time, is still totally wrong.  I got a kick out of the fact there were over 390 cops downtown with 97 cops around this exact area and this still occurred.  Oh yeah-they also got the traffic cameras all over too.  Gee the police do such a wonderful job, don't they?

I'm just waiting for someone like AJ to start reading stories like this.  "The Obama Youth Corps is just running around the place at black people events shooting innocent people.  They get handcuffed, sent down to the police station, and told by the feds there to let them go. This is happening all the time now."
